Bouchra Jarar | SS 2014 Haute Couture Collection

BOUCHRA JARRAR | SS 2014 HAUTE COUTURE

Redefining the way women wear haute couture is a task that none other than Bouchra Jarrar can handle, whom since 2010 has been part of the official haute couture calendar as a “guest member.” However, it wasn’t until this past December that Bouchra Jarrar was awarded the official haute couture appellation by the Commission de Classement Couture as an official and permanent grand couturier.

This is, without a doubt a much deserved title for Bouchra Jarrar. Bouchra created her own namesake label without being handed down the title as a successor over as a newcomer to the brand; she built this empire from the ground up. Nonetheless, her prior experience as Director of Couture at LaCroix and her deep involvement at Balenciaga and Jean Paul Gaultier shows the mature vision and knowledge of not only craftsmanship but presentation.

Now, why is this such a historical moment for Bouchra Jarrara? Because she is currently the only woman that has been given the title of grande couturier in the last 30 years.

For the collection, feathers paired with sequins and crystals to showcase the amazing craftsmanship and luxury in her outerwear. Fur paired sophisticatedly with leather to enhance the ‘luxury status’ appeal. Among the best of the looks in Bouchra Jarrar’s collection had to be probably the more versatile looks. Those that could be paired perfectly for any occasion, such as the handwoven thread redingotes and tops.

A woman of great vision of all things luxurious for everyday clothes, Bouchra created a collection that suits the lifestyle of any active high society woman. From trousers to leather jackets with asymmetric cuts to tuxedo pants and coats for any occasion, leave it to Bouchra to make the perfect luxurious transition from day to night.
